I have just replaced the main battery in my 2011 C207 E350 CDi with one from GSF parts. It did the usually search via reg number and it came up with three different Yuasa batteries. Not knowing the difference I plumped for the mid-price model which was still pricey. I assume it’s because it’s an AGM battery for Stop/Start vehicles. I connected it up and all good but I cannot place the Cabin Intake Box on top. It’s as if the battery is too tall. According to the website it’s 190mm high. The old battery was 175mm tall but looking at its tech details online, it’s not meant for my car (fitted by the previous owner I might add). I’ve checked on other websites where you can enter the car’s reg and the batteries available are all 190mm! I’ve tried to force the cabin intake box on but endEd up breaking it!

Can anybody with a C207 advise what height their battery is?

Thanks,

Mark

I can't specifically comment on your car, but Tayna listed completely the wrong sized one for my W212, as did ECP, I think - that's 'size'as in physical dimensions. If the previous 175mm one fitted properly, but was the 'wrong' Ah/CCA rating, just find one that's the same dimensions with the correct rating - Tayna and other suppliers give the dimensions of every battery they sell.

Thanks Pete. I went in to the Tayna website and unfortunately I cannot find the correct ratings for the size I need. It’s strange that all car factor websites list my car as having a battery that is 190mm tall when it’s obviously too tall for the box.
I think I’ll have to pop in to my local MB main stealer.

  • Startup Power: 800Amps (CCA)
  • Voltage: 12V
  • Capacity: 80Ah
  • Approximate Weight: 23.2kg
  • Dimensions (LxWxH): 317x175x190mm
115 from Halfords £149 2 years ago in my 2017 c207 . Top fitted no issues at all .

Update: I took the battery out again and put it back again. Guess what? The cover box now fits. I feel like a fool. Removing the bonnet strut catches (I wasn’t aware of them before)made it much easier to place the battery. Thanks.
