E220 coupe 2012
Hi everyone
I have a 2012 C220 Coupe (125k miles) and have been having an increasing number of electrical problems over the 3 year ownership.
Seatbelt presenters not working properly - stuck out etc
Clock cycling around to reset on start
Thought I just had a bad one with some serious underlying problems. First Mercedes so was starting to question the quality and reliability.
Over the summer, started the car and the anti-theft protection enabled came up on the central Comand screen so no radio, cd, phone or nav.
I made some enquiries and was suggested that the memory on the unit is probably corrupt and I will need a new / replacement unit so haven't done anything further with it.
Fast forward to 2 weeks ago, car wouldn't start and when I tested the main battery, it was down to 11.8 volts so replaced this - no warnings about the battery failing prior to this.
Now all the electrics are behaving themselves - even have start stop working for the first time since I have owned the car!
Only remaining problem is the Comand still goes into the anti-theft mode.
I'm thinking this may be a result of the poor electrics and wondering if the unit can just be re-coded to the car and how I would go about it myself or where to get this done.
Its the original unit for the car as far as I know and worked fine for the first 2+ years of ownership.
Can anyone assist on this please? I am technically competent but only have a simple code reader at the moment so guessing I would need a more advanced tool to do this myself but unsure what I would need.
Appreciate any assistance - based in Sudbury, Suffolk.

Welcome.

I don't know anyone in Suffolk who can help, but you could try Braybrooks:

Had similar on my clk 2009 .
I put new battery on car and all was good .
3days later flat again .
Ended up the headunit cuircit was staying on .
Your key fob will stop next .
Don't play around with new fob battery's ....i blew mine and steering lock...
So main battery change and head unit change.
Cheaper way is a battery isolater to disconnect over night .
But have to reset windows etc every time use it

I don’t have the money to do anything with it at the moment, Merc repair prices are crazy - thinking of retraining!
Have had the car 3 years now, think I’ll run it to the end of the mot in October and shift it on - I was expecting a Merc to be more reliable than the Vauxhalls I used to have but far from it

£battery was 165.00 quid.
What im getting at is a lot of your faults sound like the main battery not giving enough out.
Id get a battery and alternator test which are normally free.
I would try that before you bin the car.
Shame you had bad time with yours .
Just luck sometime.
Normally excellent car.
Have you looked at an E class .
They are coming down in price .
You get a hole lot of super car for little money and not abused as much as c classes.
Try an E350 cab or 220 coupes try 2013 onwards if money will stretch that far.

Good luck what ever you decide.
