Just got picked up the new motor (55) and noticed just on the drivers side door near the top of the door , sort of on the section between the two doors there is 2 bubbles, about hald a centre metre in size, im guessing this is rust. Ive heard this is common on this model in this specific area. Also read that i need to be the owner for 6 months or so before ican report it...

The car has full MBSH so do you think i should have no issues getting this sorted early next year? and is there anything in the meantime i can do to slow this process down?

many thanks

Hey buddy.

Yeah, I'm sure you'll be able to get MB to look at it.

Double check to make sure that it is rust (bubbling paint) or whether it's just slight bubbling of the laquor (which is likely to have formed when the paint work was first baked).

I say this because I, too, have a couple of really small areas of bubbling just under the tip of the bonnet. I've inspected it and am happy that it is merely a few small bubbles in the laquor.

Holy Jesus Rashman - you've got a 2007 CLK 63 and it's got defective paint...?

The C63 will be my first MB (or it will be in under 12 hours :bannana:) but I am very concerned at the amount of posts I have seen regarding rust and paint defects. Before joining the forum I would not have associated MB's with rust (yes, I know...how daft!). I have NEVER experienced rust in any previous cars which ranges from Citroens, Fiats, Alfa's, Toyota's, BMW's...the list goes on. I thought rust problems died out in the 80's!!

Yet it seems that one of the worlds car brands best known for quality STILL has rust problems??

I will be inspecting the C63 very carefully and regularly!!

Haha... whoa whoa..

Relax man. LOL.
I do not have any rust! LOL

As I understand it, MB did not start galvanising their bodywork until about 2003/2004.

My old CLK was a 2001 and was unfortunately prone to rust. Particularly around the arches. This was a common problem across most models.

Things are different now.
MB took a real slating for taking short-cuts, as I'm sure you guys are aware.

But don't be dis-heartened - MB is back!

The minor (and I do mean minor!) imperfections really are just a few tiny bubbles in the laquor. Not spread all over the place, but in a tiny group.
The surface is still sealed and well.

They are located under the tip of the bonnet - in a place where paint & laquor would naturally gather by gravity when being applied, I guess.

It's also out of view unless you open the bonnet and look for them.

Each vehicle is closely inspected and must fall within tolerances.

I can only assume that this would have been spotted and passed as acceptable.

I would have to agree.
If it was on the outside of the bodywork, I'm sure it would have been flagged up.
Incidentally, the paintwork everywhere else is spot on.

LOL

Relax... you are about to take delivery of one beast of a car

...and it will be made to current MB standards - which, in my opinion, is as best as you're gonna get it!
