Hi, just half way through changing the notorious fuel line 'O' rings (******* thing finally cut out!) and was wondering if anyone knew where to get a prefilter? It looks ancient and is full of sediment A few of the connectors (horseshoe plastic type) have become very brittle and im unsure whether they will provide an ample seal, are these easy to accquire?

Replaced all the o rings, however im having a bit of an issue with starting it still. Theres only fuel coming from 1 line from the stop solenoid to the filter housing. It seems the pump doesnt want to prime it any further, is it likely this was the last bit of fuel from the pump and its now struggling to draw more through? Im a bit stuck at the moment as the batteries not allowing ample cranking, cant seem to get a good earth to jump it off another car either.

Where are you based John? I am in Maidstone and am gaining a wealth of experience with this problem. I also have a vacuum pump which was brilliant for getting the fuel up after doing this work. Happy to help you out where I can.

Unfortunately im based in salford at the moment. Ive replaced the prefilter, the clear pipes and the o ring to the rear of the shut off solenoid. Ive had it firing off a bit of brake cleaner, but it still wont draw fuel through. Im beginning to think the delivery valve seals must be gone, im running out of patience to be truthful.

These engines are tough to jumpstart. If it's a manual I'd tow-start it. If it's an auto use a full-charged battery and jump-start it off another car with the engine running

Once it starts to kick, run the glowplugs three or four times before cranking and it should go

If the pipes have air in it will not go and must still have an air leak.
Manually fill the filter, then crank in bursts up to 30 seconds.
Once it coughs, keep your foot planted and keep cranking.

Check you have the pipes on the lift pump in the correct order.

Cheers, ive got two batteries atm so ill try and get them both charged up. Ill throw one on the van and try to fire it up off that. Theres no sign of any leaks at the moment. Im led to believe theres no tank strainer on these?
