Hi
I bought my C350e hybrid in 2018 , it was about 1 year old. 15 months later battery started draining, sign saying stop car, keep engine running. MB call centre said np arranged with local dealership. They changed battery still under warranty. happened again a few months latter, now warranty finished, they changed battery again, charged me, then started again a few months later, they changed 'small battery'. Charged me again. Then again, changed battery without charging, and happened again, 7 times, sometimes they kept for 4 weeks. Its only when I insisted that batteries die because they want to, look for where its draining. After 7 visits, dealership contacting Germany or somewhere, still no answers. they says they can change an electronic part somewhere as recommended by MB head office , for £1800 but no guarantee it will work.
I am not tech savvy, so dont know what they wanted to change this time
wrote to MB headoffice and told them problem started during warranty so they should fix it. they refuse
Q have other people come across this problem, battery draining but no cause being found
is it common for MB to sort out problem as First Aid until warranty runs out, then start charging for actually fixing it?

Sometimes feels like workshops postpone fixing issues past warranty expiry. Difficult to prove or be sure but I'd like to believe it does not happen often. The biggest thing I've seen was a broken mirror heating element, no big deal. You certainly have been unlucky.

I'm not familiar with the details but seems like your workshop has sort of done right. The first fix under warranty does not have warranty beyond the warranty period. The first fix out of warranty has like in your case if I understood the sequence right. However, sounds like they did not care to fix the actual issue, or were not capable of finding it. That should have happened at the time of the first incident during the warranty period. Don't know if there is any chance to get any compensation if/when they find the root cause.

Welcome aboard sorry to hear about your problems,I agree with what been said above,MB do try and run out the warranty,I am sure we have members who can point you in the right way to progress your dispute .

Thanks. Its good to know that I am not the only one moaning about this. In my letter to them I said that their moto is BEST OR NOTHING. it seems I have got the nothing, perhaps they havent breached advertising standards then, because they put the or NOTHING.
The way I see it is, a person has chest pain, turns out its only muscle pain, But if the doctor didnt check out the heart or pneumonia etc, the doctor would end up in court if it turns out a few months down the line that it was heart issue.
Here a battery has drained before its time. it is still under warranty. Shouldn't a good mechanic check on finding the cause instead of just changing battery, which is obviously going to last for a few months until warranty runs out.

I would really like to hear how others have dealt with these issues.
Also if these mysterious battery drains are common in mercedes 350 e
Thanks for the responses
