C350e
Hi. I just noticed that my car does not have an AC belt.

I went to Halfords and bought one for £14.

Do these c350e have an AC pulley please?

I looked everywhere and couldn’t find a diagram.

I know AC pump is somehow linked to the hybrid system so is it possible that the high voltage drives ac?

Any installation instructions will be much appreciated. I only saw one big pulley which is the crank pulley I guess.

And yes, the car was blowing hot air after a regas.

Please help. Thanks

Whoever did thevl regas, would have surely noticed if a belt was missing?

True. They never said anything though. Now here I am.

I really tried to look everywhere but couldn’t find the belt.

Is it possible the whole AC unit is missing? Then again, it wouldn’t have been able to hold pressure.

I don't know the answer, someone else might, but your suggestion that the AC might be powered by the HV battery rather than the engine is a possibility.

Cars with electric AC compressors work with the motor windings immersed in the AC system to cool them. It’s absolutely vital that the correct lubricating oil is used in a system recharge. The correct oil has special dielectric properties. Using the wrong oil will ruin it.

If it’s a hybrid it will almost certainly not have a pulley and will be driven by an internal electric motor.
As @Jobsworth says, it is critical that the correct lubricant is used when refilling/recharging with lubricant or the compressor (and probably other components) will be destroyed.
May be worth checking this.

Suggest you return belt to Halfords and get your money back , then take car to a MB Indi and get it sorted , or alternatively to an AirCon specialist , don’t try doing anything yourself as all you are likely to do is break something that’s probably working correctly.

I was unaware the ac compressor is supposed to be lubricated ???

When adding refrigerant, a certain amount of lubricant is added at the same time. The car manufacturer provides the type of lubricant and the amount (usually specified in grams).

It does mot surprise me that the OP managed to get a belt for a non existent pulley at Halfords . Try finding a rear wiper for a S203 C class on that touch screen thing they have .

Computer say's NO !

The C350e Hybrid has an electric a/c pump, so no belt. It works even when the petrol engine isn't running. Also electric heater and power steering for the same reason.
