C43 AMG Estate

Not much worse than the 180 then.

bloody hell if that's what you're getting out of it then you need to change those lead lined boots :p

I can manage, on mine, 2-250miles in urban driving and max 380 on motorway work.

I would say I pull around the same figures as you Mambo. Hence why I need a big engine. At least I will be getting enjoyment from spending all that money on petrol.

I was playing fuel light bingo when I did the 380 tankful. I lost the nerve after the sign on the M40 said services 22miles and the red light had been on for about 35miles  Managed to put in 62ltrs on that fill lol. Usually do about 330-350 before I fill up if it's a long haul trip, this is usually with lots of soujorns into the high speed lane :D

Shaun, I can't believe you're getting that sort of mileage from the 1.8 engine. Have you checked the fuel mixture isn't running rich?

I think I must just have a heavy right foot

Oh well will keep looking and if anyone knows of one for sale up to £10k let me know.

Said I would give the guy a call anyway just incase he get another tyre kicker.

Awww sorry my freind. Dont worry there are many other C43's around, and if the guy has got another tyre kicker on his hands I guess you can offer to take the car. Good luck in your search !

I've just sold my C43, it was the one that was for sale here, with the AMG plate.

I wouldn't touch a C43 that had done 140K, why bother when you can spend 2-3k more and get a well looked after car with half the miles on it. Doesn't make any sense to me. No mention of any service history, likely to have plenty of rust on it, tyres/brakes not mentioned etc etc and it's in a horrible colour.

These cars are a pain to sell and I wouldn't buy another one.

Points well made.

AMG models have a stigma attached, it's still pretty easy to sell most cars if they have a few scratches and dents or one or two problems but if it's an AMG model or a BMW M-series or a Porsche 911 turbo or something then it has to have under 100k miles on the clock, 100% service history, zero body damage and generally be considered "perfect", if it's not then it will take ages to sell as people will hold out for one that's better.

mine was near perfect, 67k miles full merc history, par a few stone chips it was in the excellent. Everything worked, alloys unmarked etc

Problem with these cars is people don't know anything about them. There isn't the following as with M series BMW's and other performance cars

I have had plenty of other performance cars and sold them easily and they were in the same condition as the merc.
They are hard cars to sell even in good condition. I wouldn't buy one unless you can get it cheap and therefore sell it on cheap after you've finished with it. My main concern would be the rust aswell.

I see that as a good thing and the thought of owning a M series hasnt even entered my head. Not even going to look at one. That may be why the insurance was cheaper than expected. Under £1k at 24.

The estate seem to be one rare breed of car. Surely thats gives a class and an edge over any other car. I can not find an estate for sale within 150 Miles of where I live!
