I have an aged 98 C43 that has passed the 120k mark. Still going strong although a little smokey on foot-down mode.

I love this thing, and have not yet found anything so much fun, and does not attract attention.

I have thought about having the engine refurbished, but cannot find a good AMG specialist in the south Midlands areathat can help other than the traditional dealer. If I can find someone recommended I would go farther afield!

I would also like to look at the possibility of adding either a supercharger or other tweak once the engine has been reborn.

Any one out their got some ideas?

you could always ask Steve (the "resident" MB engineer for people in the Kent area), who had a C43 T himself. He knows a lot about them, and he's excellent.

There's a CLK 55 engine for sale on eBay - couldn't comment on the suitability (Although I would hazard a guess that it would be similar to the rare few W202 C55s in existance!). There was a bit of a story with it (car was water damaged or something) but it might be worth a look? Could kill two birds with one stone? :D

You could try Andy Gayle in Smethwick, I have had my c36 serviced there, he seems quite good and is a respected independant.

Steve?? any contact No's.

Peter.

I've just spoken to Steve who said he would love to do it! Steves C43AMG with E55 airbox was the fastest thing Ive ever driven!

Would the E55 airbox make a significant performance difference?

All I know was that Steve's car was SO responsive and SO fast and sounded BRILL. I loved that car and wished I could have bought it!
