So I picked up the beast on Friday.........IT IS AWESOME. I have owned quite a few performance type cars in the past and I must say that raw power of this machine is amazing. Now low-down in the range isn't so ferocious as other cars I've had but one once you get some momentum it really flies.

The only downside I have with it is that it pulls a little bit to the left I have spoken to many local dealership and they have said this is a common trait/bug with the W-203 has anyone else heard of this-I must say it sounds a bit surprising.

Apart from that I am over the moon. I will post up some pictures shortly. The car appears to have virtually every option installed including linguatronic which actually seems to work unlike on other BMWs I have owned with this functionality. I really like the distronic with front and back visual displays. Really cool when you are reversing and you can look in the rearview mirror and see the indicator.

Now to the modifications:devil::
First off it is going to Comand for iPod bits. Then I'm going to put a decent sub woofer in the boot and get the exhaust sorted-it's far too quiet.

So you like it then?

Parking sensors = Parktronic.

Distronic is something else entireley. ;)

Mark.

Lovely car! :)

And yes, drifting left is a recognised W203 "trait"...

Glad to hear you like it!!

Search the forum for wheels in motion and you should find other owners with the same pull, a description of what causes it, and a specialist who can correct it (wheels in motion).

Wheels in Motion will sort that out for you. www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk Highly recommended.

Scroll down to Mercedes pulling problems.

Hey. Well done - look forward to seeing pics and future mods.

congratulation for the C55!

Do you know if C55 come equipped (factory option or standard) with LSD (limit slip differential)?

thanks

Thanks very much for the advice guys this forum has been very useful in finding out information regarding my purchase .
Will definitely give the wheels in motion guys a call about the drifting issue.
Getting the iPod connection fitted later this week then it's going to get a race exhaust fitted.
Regarding fuel consumption having spent the weekend giving it some serious stick I'm pleasantly surprised to announce my average miles per gallon so far is 19. This is not that bad.
I borrowed a Mitsubishi FQ 360 recently and I was lucky to get half that

MW C32: Can you tell me the style of wheels on your C63 I can't seem to find them anywhere. Do you think they will fit on a C 55?

Glad you are enjoying your car! I've had my C55 for about a month and so far it's been a blast. One issue I have that the dealer is going to take a look at for me is a burning smell after short journey's that enters the cabin. I've had a good look around here and elsewhere and it seems that it's well documented. I would be interested to know if you have the same problem. In about 1000 miles I too am averaging about 19-20mpg but then I didn't buy the car for it's fuel consumption. Mine didn't come with Parktronic and I am contemplating getting it fitted. If anyone knows anyone local to me that will do it - I live in Winchester - at a reasonable price, I would be grateful. My only other 'issue' is to do with the windscreen wipers but I suspect this is just a question of getting used to them. Sometimes when on auto, the intermittent wipe isn't frequent enough and there doesn't seem to be anyway of changing the frequency.
And of course - the main reason why I love the car? The noise.... That AMG howl is really addictive.
I look forward to comparing ownership notes!

That burning smell is normally a carrier bag stuck to the cats.

I love C55's as I am only a few miles from you, you would be more than welcome to pop in so I can drool over your car. When Tudu comes in for work on his C55 I just love driving it!

Thanks for the invite! I work in London during the week so if you're open on Saturdays I'll pm you when I can get down to you.

then it's going to get a race exhaust fitted.

I would personally take a bit more time before deciding on an exhaust system for C55 what with back pressure etc. It might be an idea to remove the secondary cats first, and see how you like the noise level first before going full out on a race system - at the end of the day its your car, but the C55 is a very special car.

As to the wheels, think the offset's for the W204 are different to W203. You can send an email to chris at alloywheelsdirect see if he can find you the turbines at the correct offset.

As Tudu has said, don't think they will fit.

Option code 788 C63 AMG only....

Click on the alloy wheel and the car changes to the C63!!!

A very good place for wheels are Wheels Direct at http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/

Give them a call or send an email. They are very knowledgable and should be able to tell you exactly what can and cannot be fitted re wheels.
