Good morning all,

I find myself in the position of needing a bit for my 2004 CLK cabriolet and i cant find any information online or even know what i am looking for! I put the roof down on Friday for probably the first time in a long while. when i put the roof back up the rear headlining had all gone out of shape and was showing the frame of the roof! on inspection it would appear these string/chord guides had either come unclipped or broken? i had the good idea to check the other side to see what the issue was only for that side to commit suicide also!! Can anyone enlighten me as to what the part is called that i need? i appear to be in the position that my local dealers parts department are all deaf of don't know how to answer the phone!

Thanks Tony.

I have done a quick search but cant find it do you have a link?
Thanks Tony.

Hmm not sure either :(

Thanks Tony.

Just had a nice conversation with my friendly Mercedes parts department via email:

Good morning,
I own a 2004 clk cabriolet and find I am in need of a part/part's that no one seems to be able to name? When you drop the roof there are chords/strings that keep the headlining in place but one of mine seems to be broken or a clip/fastening has come off. Could you help name and price these parts please?

Best regards Tony.

Good morning ... yes we have that part in stock . Price of the unit 489.85.- plus postage 7.- that is are refurbished unit . Please let me knowif you need one a

I then asked:

Hi Aleksei,
Do you have a picture of the part as it seems rather expensive for what looks like string?
Thanks Tony.

To which he replied:

Hallo . Sorry . We don't do pictures . We just simply don't have time for it . Thank you

I am currently awaiting a reply from my last question:

No problem, I understand.
But could you not just give me a description or part number so i can at least check online or visit my local dealer to verify it is the correct part? before i have to lay out £489.85.

Thanks Tony.

It would appear my description was that good he new the part straight away the wait goes on!

Thanks Tony.

this is what mine has done:

All this just to sell it!

thanks Tony.

I haven’t got mine out of the lock up yet, hoping to get it out this week now the defender is sorted. I’ll drop the roof to grease everything up so I’ll have a look and see if there are any clues.
You’re right though, not sure how the dealer knows that it’s a 500 quid part.
I’ve found e bay brilliant for bits for mine, I had to get a hinge for the roof cover, MB wanted 400 quid and couldn’t say when they could get one - 75 from the bay and the roof was sorted.

look forward to hearing what you find.

Thanks Tony.
