I thought long and hard before deciding to post this, as I remember the general consensus of video in motion on this forum is vehemently against it. A view that, for the record, I agree with.

However.....

My GLE coupe has a most fantastic 360 camera and, due to the size of the car and not brilliant visibility, it is heavily relied upon in situations like multi story car parks. Especially by the wife. It has about 8 different views and is at it's most excellent with the 'wheel' view, where it shows in very high definition how close they are to any kerbs.

Annoyingly though, the camera turns off once you exceed 10mph and you then have to take your eyes off the situation and hands off the wheel to turn it back on again (a process which involves holding the 'car' button for 2 seconds).

Now, before anyone pipes up that one should not be watching the camera at speeds over 10mph, settle yourself down and take a deep breath. I'm not suggesting that. However it would be good if the camera could either turn itself back on automatically after turning off, or stay on until a higher speed of, say 20mph.

This would be most useful in situations such as navigating round a multi-storey where driving up the ramps you do easily exceed 10mph, but could then do with the camera immediately at the top of bottom of a ramp (i.e. before the two seconds it takes to turn it back on if you want to maintain smooth progress).

I suspect the former idea, for the camera to automatically turn back on. is going to be impossible. Yet the latter idea to keep the camera on at a higher speed is more likely, on the basis video in motion functionality can be purchased.

Assuming I'm still alive and haven't been shot in the face yet (nope...I'm still here) is there a way to programme the car to do what I want?

I would have thought it's do-able. - Doesn't parktronic activate at load speeds, then deactivate when you speed up?

Richard or Mark at www.comandonline.co.uk would be able to advise.

Yes good shout, thanks Peter.

I have met Richard when I had our ML63, nice guy. From memory on old threads, he won't entertain any kind of video in motion (which I understand and respect) however Richard, if you see this and there is a solution to extend the time my camera's stay on (that you're prepared to do), please do let me know.
