Can I drive with amber engine warning light?

Hi there, bought an Approved Used Mercedes CLS 220 Shooting Brake about 14 months ago.
About a week before the 1 year warranty was due to expsire, the engine warning light came on and stayed amber persistently. Took it in, and they replaced some 'temperature sensors' under warranty.

2 months later, and it has now come on again. Just phoned the garage, as it is Sunday they only have sales and cannot advise on any technical matters.

1. I have an hour drive to get home, can I still drive with the engine warning light on amber?
2. Never experienced this 'engine warning light' before, and now it has happened twice in the space of 2 months - looking online, it says it could be a whole host of potential problems anything from something very simple to very complex - given the temp sensors were the problem before, is it likely this could be the same problem again - if so, hopefully I still can get that covered without the warranty....or is this highlighting some kind of more serious issue with the car, i.e there could continue to be a whole host of problems with this going forward?

This is my first Mercedes after 15 years of BMW driving with no major faults, so a bit worried about this - hopefully it is just coincidental...!

Thanks for any advice...

As you surmise, it could be anything causing it really.

It is relatively safe to drive it with an amber light on, a red one should definitely mean a stop. If the car senses anything wrong with it, it will go into "limp mode" and restrict your progress until it's repaired so you should be OK to get home.

Thanks!
Got it to the dealership and it was a NOX sensor that has been replaced...did it free of charge as goodwill from Merc despite a couple of months out of warranty, so super impressed with that...
