Guys,

I want to tart up my engine bay in my 2004 S55K and wondered if this is doable without causing any electrical glitches. If this can be done, which i'm sure it can, could someone please enlighten me :D

Lots of ways off doing it and lots of info available it just depends how far you want to take it. Very easy to let it get out of hand as I have done with the 450. Swore I would only tidy it up but ended up having covers polished and parts sandblasted and more. Even replaced clips if they were not bright enough - it became a way of life and I have seen people do more! Simple way seal all electrical items and give it all a good wash down with a de-greaser and then a thorough wash. Easy to polish everything up and then see if you are satisfied or want to go further. Fords Restoration have lots of products online. Good luck

I'm going to tidy mine up at some point but will not take a hose to it...will probably use a degreaser/APC and then dress with something like PERL.

Used PERL today on tyres and like the fact you can use it for interiors including leather supposedly. As to longevity for engine given temperatures the jury is out. Forums seem to suggest Aerosol 303 but not buying yet another product.

It's probably well known and/or obvious to everyone else, but what is PERL, please?

Thanks

I hadn't heard of it until a few months back or half the stuff I've bought recently...

My mistake was to join the Detailing World Forum, it's horrendously addictive!

Many other sellers including Carpro themselves direct but I've only ever had good service from this company below.

Must stress only used the product for the first time today but it seems every but as good as the write ups.

Can get sprayers/atomisers from Fleabay but I got some 100ml atomisers from Superdrug of all places.

It goes a long way even at 1:1 dilution I used maybe 25ml combined and that was 2 lots of application to 2 cars including the wife's Qashqai/tractor! Spray on wipe off, takes seconds.

Lots of other products out there for the engine I just like the fact you can use it for lots of other things, it's reasonably priced and should last ages.

Thanks for the advice guys, but i'm a bit concerned about water getting into small places and knowing my luck it will cause me a massive headache. I'm going to leave it to the professionals and leave it at that. If they screw my car up it's down to them to fix.............my insurance policy :thumb:

I get that, it's why I'd never take a hose to the engine and would only wipe on and wipe off product.
