thanks
Gareth

W124 Works Preston?

cheers Jaymanek - does anyone have any particular experience with them. the car is a CL65 AMG and i want someone to go over it with a fine tooth comb.
thanks

Ian Walker at 124 Works often checks cars over for customers. He has done several for me. I recommend him. He will run the car through a STAR machine for you also.
Let me just say, I am retired and I do pitch up at 124 Works a couple of days a week to do "yard dog" duties for him. Unpaid of course but it keeps me busy.

It cannot do any harm to give him a ring. Preston (01772) 681210 and he works Saturday mornings.

Just bear in mind that a 215 CL65 is a very complex beast, probably one of the most complex MB cars ever made (?)

Twelve cylinders, two turbochargers, air suspension, numerous electronic modules and a ton (probably not far off!) of electrical items.

The 215 also suffers from galvanic corrosion issues (IIRC) where the steel and alloy panels meet.

An absolutely fantastic beast, but a monster of a car to inspect and plenty of stuff to go wrong unfortunately. They were about £150k new, are very rare in the UK (36?) and so I'd consider paying for a main dealer inspection and/or warranty perhaps on such a specialist car :)

IMHO of course, and not at all intended to be a negative post :o

+1 :thumb:

Are you 100% sure the car is in Lancashire? These are rare cars and I know of at least one for sale that is a dog, so please beware. A link to the car or seller may help.

I too can recommend Ian at 124Works, but looking at your car I'd give him a ring first.

Second choice would be NASA.

Money spent now on inspecting it could save a lot of heartache later .......

Lovely colour combo but completel lack of preperation for a 30K car,.. still junk on the seats..

Hopefully the maintenance will have been a little more considered.

Just a word of caution- whenever I have been to look at a car or van that hasn't been valeted, I have found the car to be a let down when I got there.
Not valeting a £27k car before posting pictures? Doesn't bode well For the future in my opinion....

Here is the link Mercedes : Very rare Supercar

any feedback most welcome

Where are the £4.5k split rims it came with?

Other than Ian Walker, there is MB Tech in warrington as well.

Not many MB specialists, and this is not a dig, will have experience with looking at these cars, they are phenomenally rare. I doubt even MB dealers will be experienced at looking at them.

I would imagine there is a certain amount of comfort that can be taken from the fact that the car is under warranty, so may be a trip to Mercedes, is there an AMG centre in manchester.

the guy selling seems 100% genuine and gave me the number of the MB service dept that know the car so am going to call them on Monday - would still be keen to get it inspected independently. yes its still under warranty and is until March

the guy selling has given me the name of a guy in the service dept at MB Blackburn who knows the car so am going to call him as well.
