Has anyone experienced problems with their car alarms and if do what was the cause please, for the last 2 nights my w212's alarm has gone off(roughly the same time) for no apparent reason(ok again after unlocking/ locking the car).Had it from new and never had a problem before(just over 21/2 years old now and luckily still under warranty). Thanks for any help:thumb:

Could be as simple as an insect / fly in the car. Or maybe worth getting it checked on warranty before you upset all your neighbours. Check that you have no air gaps on roof seals / windows etc. Spray some fly killer liberally into the cabin.

Hi Bruce, thanks for help-never thought of a fly etc, have had them in the car recently as we live in rural Dorset so will check that first!

Steve

I live in Rural Kent. My garage is known to attract mice (this is not good) as they can destroy car electrics in one sitting. It may simply be that your alarm is false detecting and needs repairing/replacing. Worth checking it out for beasties first though. Good luck.

Will do Bruce, just checked all windows/pano roof are shut properly, aplied fly killer and will close all air vents before dark tonight and see if the alarm sounds again in which case I will get it booked in and checked for faults, thanks for your thoughts......

Common cause is the siren unit giving up.

Thanks for the info, will keep an eye on it as it has just gone off the once for the past 2 nights, have checked all windows/pano roof/seals all ok and sprayed fly killer inside the car, will see if it goes off again and take it from there,at least the cars still under warranty and has full mb service history:):):)

Good luck Steve :thumb:

Has not gone off since the second time on Sunday night so hopefully it was an insect that caused it but time will tell.......

I had problems with the alarm on my 168 which seemed to go off at the same time on most days. Then it would behave itself for a while.

Not sure if this is relevant to your car but the interior sensors on mine are adjustable for sensitivity. I found that mine were set to maximum.

After removing a small rubber plug on the drivers side sensor I reset the sensitivity with a small flat blade screwdriver, there was about half a turn of adjustment. Fully clockwise is maximum sensitivity, I set mine roughly in the middle of max-min.

No more false alarms since :thumb:

Thanks for the info, will see if I can find the interior sensors although to be fair I doubt these are the problem as I've had the car from new without a problem until now and the sensors have never been touched, although the alarm sounded around 1hour difference for 2 nights on the trot it hasn't since(2nights ago last time) so I'm hoping Bruce's theory about an insect in the cabin was right!-thanks for your thoughts though, much appreciated.
