Maybe it's just me, but for some reason I kinda cringe when I see people's signature bit on car forums when they leave posts. I'm referring to the bit at the bottom of a post. Some people have a wise saying attached to theirs, some have funny jokes etc. etc
I have never understood the "over the top" descriptions of cars owned by that person. The likes of ..........

"2003 Ford Focus 1.6LX, Metallic Blue, steering wheel, fluffy dice, valid MOT and tax, Blaupunkt CD Player with remote control, nodding dog in back window, Turtle Waxed every 3 days, rear side window blinds, go faster stripes, 0-60mph in 12.4366 seconds, 32mpg, Formula 1 gearknob, Lidl seat covers, Magic Tree air freshener, Special Edition decals on boot lid, refurbed alloys, Bosch wiper blades, first aid kit, fire extinguisher......."

I'm sure you get my point. Is it just me who thinks it's a bit OTT??
 
I'm inclined to agree unless the car in question is something really special - difficult on a Merecedes forum, you might think - but it's a harmless conceit. As the man said, each to their own.

If it annoys you, turn off the signatures function in you user settings.

Doing that would have been quicker than starting a thread.
 
I see nothing wrong with it at all, like has been said, each to their own
 
I turned off all avatars & sigs looooooong ago. They just clutter up the screen with crap.

What may have been (very) mildly amusing or interesting the first time I saw it or read it palls after seeing it dozens & dozens & dozens of times.
 
Forums without sigs are boring places...!

That said, having countless lines of txt listing every car they have ever owned is annoying.
 
I just post a link to further info on the current car, for those that are interested.

I always though the "can't polish a turd" signature/strapline was pretty yuk :mad:.

Emmm....I didn't say it annoyed me. I said I felt it was a bit over the top on occasions and I also commented that it made me cringe.

A post appropriately placed in a General Discussion forum is created for exactly that purpose....general discussion. If I want to start a thread about the price of monkeys testicles in Outer Mongolia then I shall do so, even if it would have been quicker to find the answer or gain the opinions of others elsewhere. But thanks for your invaluable advice in the meantime.
 
Monkeys' testicles are about 30 tugrik per 100 gm in Ulan Bator, less than half that in the provinces...
 
I like seeing someones car history or current roll-out.

It helps add value to any replies they give as you're able to more quickly ascertain whether it's opinion or experience.
