.......handsome when they were new.![]()
Vinyl wrap Rory? I had normal grained aluminium on mine and wrapped it to dark aluminium finish (still grained). I'm much happier, but don't think the dark ally was a option for my model year.and unique....now overused in boy-racers etc.
This morning, I took back a loan C200 (2020 model) to the MB dealer to collect my SL. It has a dark (matt) wood grain finish which looks really nice and (IMO) way better than carbon. I can honestly say that if I was offered a free carbon interior for my car, I don't think I'd take it but I would take the finish that C200 has. Mine has a brushed aluminium (black)finish and I'm sorry I chose it when ordering the car and should have gone for a dark wood look.
However variety is the spice of life!
What does the original console look like? My son has the E53 AMG and the interior is really nice (not carbon). I'm not a big fan of the carbon look & think it is overused but each to their own.

Yes the idea of that finish is nice but not practical. The centre console is cheap Piano black plastic that scratches just looking at it. My one has loads of scratches ☹TBH the Carbon look cover was a lazy option to cover the original one. Wrapping guy local to me is back from Hols Monday. I"ll have a lookie see what's available. Car has brushed aluminium inlays on the door and the dash. See if we can get a matchI'm not the greatest fan of wood in a car but it wouldn't let it put me off buying
wood
be a boring world if we were all the same

I'm not a fan of wood (especially light colours) either but did like this - which was what the loan car had.

Once the centre arm rest is removed the rest is simple, most just clips in/out. The door card removal probably took the longest, not difficult just long winded. All went back together easily too.I've thought about it a few times. The car is now 3 years old but, I'm still loathe to have the inside pulled apart to do a wrap. I could do the job myself. Been covering all sizes of model aircraft with vinyl wrap / shrinkable films since the 80s. This thread has piqued my interest again.........
