Hi all, I have had my C63 for 13 months now and whilst I have lasted without making any mods, I am now getting twitchy :)
I was out cleaning the car today and started considering a carbon diffuser for the rear. A quick look on eBay has found a rather aggressive looking diffuser with large fins from a UK vendor, with the rest being offered by far eastern vendors which would concern me regarding both finish and fitment.
I see Vorsteiner do a great looking diffuser but the cost is on the high side.
Just wondering if anyone had replaced their rear diffuser with a carbon item and where these were purchased, any pictures would be great.

Mode carbon, some second hand ones pop up now and again. or try dipping one in carbon. i have a spare oem diffuser if you want to expirement on one.

The dipping idea seems a good one. Tony, how much would u be looking for for the diffuser?

Just what I am looking for, also like the front lip, can I ask which company did you use for the dipping? Thanks for the pics

A1 hydro print

Witney, Oxfordshire

Thanks mate, i will give them a call tomorrow :)

That is seriously impressive Rob, how much did it cost?

I have spoken to Shaun at A1 Hydro this morning. I am getting my diffuser taken off this week and sending to him.

Rob, thanks for the steer, always good to have a recommendation and looking at your pictures they have done a great job.

it looks like you are already sorted you can do the same for the front lip and spoiler too! i have all 3 oem's spare from fitting the mode carbon ones. please post pics once its all done!

Thanks Tony, will do.
I have tried today to take the rear diffuser off my car, seems it's not straight forward so it's going into my local bodyshop tomorrow, they reckon it's going to be easier to take the front and rear bumper/valance of the car to get the diffuser and chin spoiler off, i am not keen on this amount of work just to get the bits off but it would seem Merc in their wisdom have used rivets on each corner of the diffuser and try like I have during today I just cannot get them off. These things are never straight forward, but it's a one off job so will keep the faith!

Mercedes possibly designed the bumper as a single item( made up of multiple components) and so never intended for it to come apart easily.

The rear is not to bad really. You are right there are twp rivets but ones they’re out is not to bad. Just have to get ur hand insite the bumper and pop them out. The front is much more involved. You have to get the trays off to get to the srews. But if you dont want to do all this the guy in witney will do that for you is well

both are easy enough to do. the front is the easiest you just have to unclip the twisty things underneath and it slides out. look up some guides online, I did it with a friend of mine as i am not mechanically inclined. the rear is a pain but not impossible! we had to remove the bumper though, prop the car up take the wheels off for better access as you need to have wifey hands to get in one of the screws in the wheel arch, the rest is not bad at all. I think in mbworld there is also a guide on how to take rear bumper off go get to diffuser.

its a real ballache to remove diffuser without taking bumper off as the clearance from the ground to drill out the rivet is low. unless you can prop the car high enough.

Thanks for the tips everyone, based on this and the fact my local bodyshop are mad busy today I am going to visit a friend who has a lift and see if I can do this myself.
