I have just bought some carlube DPF cleaner for my Merc E350 which has apparently got one. Has anyone used this? As I'm getting told by mercedes not to. I'm also having trouble starting the car after is been standing a while this morning it took 7 cranks of the engine to start. I've already had a relay changed and a new battery on but that hasn't helped. Any suggestions anyone?? Thanks Mick.

I cant think it would harm but I'm not a mechanic. If you're half competent with spanners Mick take the engine cover off and check left and right air filters for debris. Then remove the MAF housing which is the large black pipe part shown here

I would highly recommend replacing both those red seals as the large one is prone to leaks and that can cause issues. I'd also give the MAF sensors a spray with switch cleaner whilst you're there. You cant actually touch them so spray through the plastic mesh on to them.

Does the Glow plug light stay on?
do you allow the plugs to warm up when starting?

If you find a local DPF specialist, they can do a pressure test to check if the DPF needs a thorough clean.
