What could make the above car Cat B? I cant even see any major external damage? Description only mentions it is a Cat B so has to be broken for parts and has "MINOR DENTS/SCRATCHE".

Doesnt look it from the interior shots.

only allowed to break it, if it wwas stolen and all identifiers were removed they would also make it a cat b, a few years ago they used to make it a cat c.

These are vehicles that can only be broken for parts and must never return to the road, due to being either severely damaged in accidents, or by fire or flood.

I know what the official description of cat b is but none of the above stevieb posted seems to apply to this car.

What Alps has said seems to be the most likely reason. May have been stolen, all identifiers removed before shipping it abroad etc.

Hi, As above, it may well be a ringer but there are really quite a lot of reasons. Quite often cars will be broken if they've had someone killed inside ( ie shot or stabbed ). I know its a bit grim but thats what happens, they dont just valet them and put them up for sale!

The story is that the original owner has lowered the cars suspension and written off the underside at some speed!

So engine ,gearbox, trans etc isnt looking so good..obviously no pics either:rolleyes:

I asked!:)

I think he's having you on, its being sold as a runner, it doesn't look that low and finally if it was just needing some mechanical repair work it wouldn't need to be broken.

I've seen some test bed cars being broken for parts, for example McLaren UK may well own some R8's, Lamborghini and Ferrari, they then strip these down and find out what makes them tick. These are usually broken for parts.

Wow, stripped out that would be a fantastic track day car. :)

there are loads of pics on the link in the first post - basically, it doesn't loook damaged at all and is sat at £9k

There's a 500 SEL on there as well - unrecorded
