A local garage charged me £48 to find fault and want £250 to Change A/C pressure sensor and then do gas recharge

Is this about right?

I have 2009 CLK 350 convertible

Cheers

Tony

Depends on how much the sensor is , OEM or aftermarket.

An hours labour is around £100 (ish) and a regas is around £80 (ish) , add those to the price of a sensor and £250 (if it includes VAT) is not too far off the mark.

Any gas in your system now ?

For my W212 I paid £53.12 for the pressure sensor from MB (trade price)
Fitting was 1 hours labour (£60), re-gas was £100 (paid more than I should have, there are normally offers to have this done for £40, regular price is £60 at places such as ATS)

So in total, it should cost around £150 IMO.

Sensor says 0 Bar but sensor is broken

ok, just that if its empty you can change the sensor yourself , its just down in the wing passenger side. then have a regas.

Some systems have sensors that plumb into a shraider valve so that no refrigerant is lost when removing it (at least GM cars from the last 30 years). Is it not the case for this model? Put some gauges on it and see if you have pressure.

not the case on the w204 or w212. Not sure about w209
