Hello

Can anyone tell me how to get the rear light bulbs in a 2012 SLK please?

I presume that this involves removing the interior trim in the boot as opposed to removing the lens from the outside?

There are no obvious screw from removing either in my wife’s SLK55 and the rear off side indicator bulb has gone!

Thanks very much.

Not 100% certain, but I thought R172 SLK's had LED rear lights?
You can't replace the bulb if you have LED's.

Is 2012 an R172 or a late R171? My July 2008 is a very early facelift R171.

The manual states that you should speak to dealer, it doesn’t state that there is no bulb or that it can’t be done!

As AMGeed states in post 6 above, the rear lights appear to be LED and, apart from the reversing lights, do not have changeable bulbs! Thanks very much for answering my question.

So, instead of a £2.70 bulb taking 2 mins to change, the fix actually involves buying a new light cluster for about £270 that takes about 2 hours to change!

Ohh, and of course we have to wait about a week for the part to arrive and pay in advance.

Life was so much easier when you could just nip out to Halfords!

That’s assuming that it is the cluster at fault…

That’s what I was getting at , if it’s a bulb change the manual says so , if it’s a whole unit it’s go to dealer .
I was not being flippant by suggesting the manual .
