Hi all, 2003 CLK500 c209 RHS. Pre facelift with charcoal filter under glovebox.
I've got the front of the dash off and have replaced footwell actuators. Now for the clicking faulty charcoal filter actuator... WIS says to remove entire air con unit for access but I will bail out if that's the case. Can anyone who's done this one tell me if I can reach it if I lift the top section of the dash? Even if to just disconnect the arm if its got one to stop the noise because I don't really care where the flap is pointed.
Really appreciate any guidance, I don't want to pull any more apart for nothing.

I bit the bullet and removed the top of the dash. I didn't want to unplug the passenger airbag so I only slid the dash back as far as the cables allowed. It was not too hard, you don't have to remove the steering wheel. I could just see the motor M32/2 but I don't think you would be able to replace it without unbolting the whole air con box and moving it as its under the metal frame below the windscreen. I could get to the connector to unplug it using a long screwdriver.
It is the blue thing you can see in my picture.
Now back together and everything else is working, my scanner shows charcoal filter flap motor communication fault, but no malfunction comes up on dash so all is good. FINALLY no more clicking every time I start the car.
I removed the charcoal filters (they were stamped 2003 so probably original) as I don't plan on driving through any long tunnels.
