Checking the SBC - SL?

Hi, I've just bought an SL an now checking for areas to check / monitor, and I've read about potential issues with the SBC.

I understand that after a certain amount of use, there will be an error message showing, but is there anyway of checking when this might be or how much the SBC has currently had?

Is this via a MB diagnostic tool or similar?

I've got 6 months warantee on the car and if this (SBC) is due shortly and I can get it covered - it would make sense.

Or how do I know if it has been swapped / reset?

Thanks
Tim

Counter value can be checked (Via STAR), but it's not telling straightforward when unit needs the change. Edit2: reported values have been 400000-600000 cycles, just checked mine, was 376000

Hydraulic block has bosch code series which probably includes the manufacturing month and year (I think I've posted those links here, need to check), if unit is newer than your car, it's changed. But this coding is not 100% confirmed.

Edit: was on neighbor forum:

Thanks, if I've read this correctly - the last 3 digits (on the lower right of the block - read as "365" which is May 1993 - correct?

Or is it the figure "490" - October 2004 ?

Very interesting, and it may be good news for me. Mine is coded 889, which decodes as September 2008. The car is a 2003, so on the face of it the SBC unit has been replaced. Also, the Bosch part number on mine is 0 265 250 110, while I see the same on the 2004 unit pictured in post 4 is 0 265 250 091, so mine is possibly a later version. Maybe I don't need to worry all that much yet....
