That V12 engine, which puts out a hysterical 850bhp and 850lb ft of torque, was developed with help from the performance arm of Mercedes Benz, AMG (they do all of the maddest performance Mercs).

Trust AMG to have a hand in something this bonkers It'll top 248mph and get to 60mph in 2.9 seconds.

I bet that's an estimated top speed, one of the main limiting factors in supercar top speed is the tyre rating . We only have the Pirelli P-Zero Rosso because Lamborghini needed a tyre that would do over 200mph

You're right Nick, I was reading the link posted by Andy and the speeds and acceleration times are indeed estimates. What tyres does the McLaren F1 use then? I thought that was good for 230mph.

ME Four-Twelve wheels are cast aluminum: 19x10-inch front and 20x12.5-inch rear. Michelin high-performance radials are 265/35ZR19 in the front and 335/30ZR20 in the rear.

What tyres does the McLaren F1 use then? I thought that was good for 230mph.

I just looked through my collection of supercar books and it looks like the tyres are "Michelin Pilot SX" type, according to the lettering on the side! If you remember when Tiff Needell drove the McLaren F1 around that steep-banked oval track to test the top speed, he melted the tyres!

No problem on the tyres front! BF Goodrich do tyres that go up to 350mph!!! Chrysler just need to source rims the same size as the Space Shuttles!!!
