Recently being having issues with the driver door functions not working, intermittently ,seats ,mirrors ,windows etc. Now all the functions have ceased working and I now have these two warning lights.

My independant Merc mechanic has looked at the car and suggested that it maybe the SAM unit ,which I have just replaced but not resolved the issue.
Any advice would be welcome from the forum members .

Hi Dennis, being an ex-CL55 Kompressor owner I have a couple of suggestions:
1. Bad earthing, checks all the earth leads and replace or fit more.
2. Door looms are often split internally and can cause no end of issues.

I miss mine, great cars.
Kind regards Matt :thumb:

Just wondered if anyone else has had similar issues, could the battery be the problem i wonder ?

Could be the door control module, a diagnostic may help you diagnose the fault.

did think that but still not sure why these two particular warning lights are also on

Been there - Done that.

The door cable harness is prone to break after years of opening/closing the doors. Had to fix mine. A bit of a PITA since at least on C215 the M/Y 2000, there is no connectors for the door harnesses. The flexible rubber hose protecting the cables has to be carefully removed (the rubber is t h i n ) after which the cables can be repaired. Mercedes used way to stiff cables. Fixing broken cables requires disconnecting the battery (and wait for at least 30 minutes), since there is SRS cables in the harness. Any breakage of the SRS system while 12V is present results in a DTC which have to be reset using a diagnostic system.

The design where the seat and window control buttons is layed out the way they are is sensitive to water ingress (opening the door when it is raining). So when removing the panneling, also take a close look at/inside the door control module. Many electric problems are in fact mechanical: Corrosion, contact elements not properly seated in the connector housing, etc. Many control boxes are replaced after a mechanic have read out the DTC. replaced a fully functional box while at the same time dis- and reconnected the cables thereby realigning the connectors.)

I loved my CL. It was the very definition of comfort but the car was a continuously ongoing "project".

Thanks for your reply, I have had the car for four years and not used it all winter, desperate to have it back on the road to enjoy what if any summer we may have.

Guys I have found at least one cable connection in the door gator damaged which I repaired and now all door fuctions are working.Still have the problem of the battery not charging when ther engine is running.I do not have any red battery warnings displayed though.
Any thoughts ?

What voltage is the alternator putting out? Should be over 14v. Could also be that the battery is faulty.

The door looms are notorious for breaking. Easily repaired. Takes 2-3 hours.
