Hi all.

I had a bit if a mishap this evening.

I had to leave the house in a hurry and forgot to unplug the trickle charger from the boot of my car in my panic to get out. As I went to pull off of the driveway the mains cable going into the boot was obviously pulled back as I tried to drive away.

Thankfully I realised just in time to stop before any major damage had been caused, however to my horror I’ve managed to crack the bottom leading edge of the boot lid, where the edge of the lid meets the top of the bumper by a good couple inches at a 45 degree angle.

My question is, is this repairable or given that the boot lid is composite is it finished?

My car is my pride and joy and I’m mortified at what I’ve done.

If anybody has a brilliant silver boot lid in good condition knocking about, I’d be very interested.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks and kindest regards.

Any pictures

Always leave the trickle charger box on the drivers seat (for the future anyway ) .

Try a Mercedes breaker like Dronsfields for a C215 CL bootlid.

Edit There is a silver one on ebay for £150

No , the box it came in , or something that you can’t sit on as a reminder ;)
Great idea!

Tbh in the 12 months I’ve owned my car this is the second time its happened, the first thru totally forgetting and last night was because of a panic situation. I got away with it the first time, but last night I wasn’t so lucky!

I stick a mf cloth through the exterior door handle now when I have the charger connected, it's an easy to see warning that I need to remove before driving off.
