CLC steering wheel onto a CLK

Does anyone know if a late model CLC steering wheel would fit onto a CLK 2003, and would the control buttons function?

From experience of trying to fit a pre-facelift 203 'wheel onto a post-facelift 203, pretty sure the answer will be yes and no.
It'll fit but the buttons won't work. MB changed the communications protocols around 2004/5
