Should there be a plastic trim protecting the "carpet" where the hinge passes through the boot side liner ?
I hope that description of the location is clear as I'm not at the vehicle at the minute to take a picture

There should be a plastic cover over the arm of the hinge. On one side it will cover the wiring loom for the number plate lights Etc, cant remember seeing anything attached to the carpet on mine.

I have seen a picture somewhere of a plastic trim protecting the edge of the hole where the hinge passes through the boot lining. It's not terribly important I'm sure but once I know something is missing it bugs me🙄

Here's the picture I saw online, I have circled the part in green

Are you really going to make me go out in the rain to look?

If there is supposed to be plastic trim around the edge of the hole I'm like you. I won't sleep until I've found it.

I appreciate that, that's how mine is too, the mystery deepens, thanks

Must say it looks like a very nice bit of trim, now I want one, well two to be precise. Time to firer up EPC

I'm not seeing any on Google image search. Even found a pic of a CLK DTM AMG and that doesn't have them.

Could be down to weight saving though...🤔

Sounds like a 3D printer opportunity, pity I don't have one or the desire to own one, I have tried searching the online parts catalogue but can't find it, maybe it's a part of the lining, although having said that I have seen a utube video somewhere showing how to remove that plastic bit

That might not be a CLK. I don't see the seat release handles.

Can you tell it's quiet in the office today?

Seems that picture I posted is a w211, but surely that plastic trim serves the same purpose across the board?
