I have a problem my clocks randomly will just go off and back on again the clock it self just seems to keep going round and around I don't lose drive or lights it's just the clocks and the parking sensors always bleep at the same time as clocks go out. Can anyone help?

I suspect grounding problem, instrument cluster resets when clock start spinning. Might be that paring sensor voltage does same. You won't get any convenience function messages? Difficult to hunt down... when problem happens, only after start or randomly all the time? Measure voltage, check all battery leads are tight, grounding between engine and body, alternator wires...

Thanks mate sometimes I see like a sparkler affect going on behind the numbers when it dose it. If I buy new clocks do they have to be programed in or can someone fix the circuit board that runs them?

It happens randomly all the time

That's not a solution, it sounds like you have a Sam unit issue.

Take it to be read on a star machine at a Mercedes specialist. I suspect there is nothing wrong with your speedo etc.

My speedo works intermittently and star says all ok. Tends to stop and start working when turning the car on. I've replaced the ring gear and battery and it's still playing up so maybe an earth. It's a face lift w211 cdi v6 . Anyone know where tge earth's are in the dash area.

I'm pretty sure it's the clocks because all the light's flash and all 3 dials are affected and the parking sensors and any diagnosis machine would tell you if something was wrong star just has lost more on it to adjust things with it running lumpy now as well when you put your foot down so looks like I'm having a new manifold now lol o the joys and Mercedes will only give a good will jester if they do the work at 100 pound an hour

Star can delve into deeper areas of the issues, standard diagnostic machines just aren't up to reading mercedes and the likes properly.

I've had this issue with Mercedes before, if your parking sensors are going off as well that's connected to your Sam unit. It throws up intermittent faults with all sorts of weird areas. Eventually you'll see a sign display fault.

I could be wrong but there is no point in guessing on a Mercedes, pay for a local indie to investigate the issue as Sam unit don't always show up as problematic on first glance.

Which Sam unit controls the instrument cluster and parking sensors?

That's far beyond my knowledge you'd have to et star to pinpoint the issue. Not always easy when it's not always a current fault.
