Hi guys,

Posting after a while but needed some opinions. Bought a CLS 2016 facelift for the mrs and was wondering; it does not have keyless entry, neither does it have the keyless start button when you get into the car.
Basically you have to unlock from the fob and manually and start the car with the key in its slot just like older Mercedes cars in 2008 etc. Does this mean is not vulnerable to get stolen as it does not have keyless features?

Also phoned a locksmith calls wemakeanykeys ltd in London and asked if he can make a spare key and he said sorry its dealer only for a spare. So does this mean thieves cant smash the window and program a new key through OBD port like they do on some Mercedes vans etc.

Just trying to weigh up if its worth getting a tracker with a immobilizer tag etc.

Obviously if they broke into my house currently and took the keys through force etc then the car is gone.

I wouldn't bother with trackers etc. You've probably got a Thatcham alarm.

Non-keyless cars are less vulnerable to being stolen in that way.

Some firms can produce spare keys. However, their prices tend to be similar to a dealer's, so it depends on where you are as to whether it's worth the hassle and cost of fuel to travel to an indie for a key.

Don't quote me on this, but CLSs seem to be less likey to be stolen than some of the more common or more valuable models (ie E, C or S class).

Yes they're too obvious on the road. E class is common as potholes on the road. Every minicab is one.

You may find if you purchase the stop start button and insert it the car may work keyless for starting the engine.

would certainly think the 2016 cls facelift should have this as standard kit
