Mercedes ML320 2008
Hi guys I’m new here, I own a 2008 ml320 automatic and today it decided to make a loud clunk noise when engaged to reverse and when set to drive( it usually was very smooth)I’ve continued to drive for about half mile and noticed the car lost power when pressed the gas so stopped the car and switched off ignition and turned on again and now working fine. This happened just once and I had the car for a month does anyone knows what could be the cause of it? I’m so worried because I don’t want to spend loads of money on it .thanks for any help.

Was the car on tick over revs when this happened?

Where did you buy the car, Private or from a Dealer?

There are likely to be fault codes logged. These need to be read.

Dealer, there’s not lights on dash.
If the light does come on , then seek help. Otherwise ignore it , unless it's something major .... Mechanical.

Something put it into limp mode , when you reset the ignition, you reset the fault.

The ECU will of recorded fault codes .

Dealer, there’s not lights on dash.
Go back to the dealer.

There can be fault codes stored without any warning lights on the dash.
