Not sure about the new W212 but a lot of Mercs have a label on the drivers side 'B' pillar which gives the paint code, VIN and axle weights.

As an example, my paint code is C744 which is brilliant silver metallic.

The label grumpyoldgit describes is next to the bonnet catch on my W203, so it's worth hunting around for it. The colour code will be described as 'Farb', the German for 'colour'.
