Hi,
Can onyone tell me and confirm that when I switch the vehicle mode to "Comfort" does it lower the car on its suspension? and conversely, if I switch to "Sport" or "Sport +" does it stiffen the suspension and raise the car or just stiffen?

TIA

Comfort usually means different gearbox settings, including setting off in second. I doubt it would lower the suspension.

Usually Sport will lower the car and stiffen the suspension.
Comfort retains ride height for more compliant ride

It says in the owners handbook "Use the AGILITY SELECT switch to change the drive program. Depending on the drive program selected, the following characteristics will change:
1, The drive (engine and transmission management
2, The suspension
3, The steering
4, The availability of the ECO start/stop function
5, The climate control (Why this should change baffles me)
Perhaps I should add the car is a C220 (W205) Bluetec Sport Premium +.

On your W205 it will not adjust the suspension.
Some settings will turn off the climate control to make the vehicle slightly efficient.
Some settings ie. sports +, will turn the stop/start feature.
etc.

It does on my S205 as I have airmatic suspension. comfort is standard...sports...sports plus or track mode adjusts the ride height and stiffness of the suspension...alters the steering mode....and gear ratios....plus it flies like s***t of a shovel if pushed

Not sure about this but I think if u have the air suspension option then suspension settings will change, otherwise they are manual shocks with no adjustment electronically.

I had 4 wheel alignment on my 205, the guy doing it knows his stuff & mentioned the wheel alignment is measured in comfort mode, using sport & sport plus where it lowers the suspension, could account for uneven tyre wear if you use these settings most of the time. Regardless if which settings you use, I believe the car lowers itself at m/way speeds for aero purposes.

I'm pretty sure when I bought the car the dealer said something about airmatic suspension, so in comfort mode it would stand to reason that the suspension would be softer and get progressively stiffer when changing through the sport modes.

I think you need airmatic to change the ride height. And then comfort is the normal height and sport (1 or 2) are lower.

Hi Pete,
I have carried out a VIN decode and printed out the file and it says the car is fitted with "Avantgarde" suspension whatever that is

Easiest way to tell , look under the wheel arch at the struts and see if they have a coil spring over them, if they have then u have normal manual suspension, if not then they are the air suspension units..
