I have been contemplating having my wheels refurbished in a different colour for a little while now, but I had the garage get them refurbed before I picked up the car approx.18 months ago, so they are in great condition. This along with a quote of £360 and I just couldn't bring myself to put my hand in my pocket.

Well now I don't have to, as I am the proud winner of a Facebook competition that I entered. All I had to do was write a comment on why my wheels needed a refurb, and the one with the most 'likes' at the end of the competition won the prize.

All it has cost me is a lot of time begging people to like my comment, and I've maybe lost a couple of friends from my constant pestering, but it was worth it.

My car is booked in one day before Easter for the refurb and change to a shadow chrome finish. They will even swap my summer tyres onto the rims for me.

I have used the company before and was extremely happy with their service, so this is a nice little prize. A very happy man :)

As the title suggests, the thread was meant to be more focused on the fact that I managed to win a Facebook competition, which was car related, hence originally posted in the General Discussion section. I thought general car related threads should be posted there. I apologise for my mistake. Thanks for correcting it :thumb:

These Facebook campaigns are a brilliant way to get publicity for companies by getting people to hound their friends to “like and share” and not only that - you’ve now shared their business details on a motoring form too and all for the princely base cost of probably about £100 for the business!

Yep, cheap publicity for them, and great prize for me just for a little effort. I suppose I could actually have posted the competition details here whilst it was still running, and potentially got the company even more publicity, but I didn't want any more entries reducing my chance of winning! ;)

Go on then, tell us your winning comment!
My quote wasn't anything interesting, but the way the competition was run it didn't matter. The prize was purely given to the person whose comment received the most likes, and I think only 2 of my 27 likes were from people that I hadn't asked to help me win. There were around 50 entrants, their post showed as being shared 18 times, but the way Facebook works it showed that the post had been viewed over 22K times! As SPX said, a very cheap way to reach many people :thumb:
