Concerned on oil usage

I have a new motorhome based on the Sprinter 315 cds. At 5000 miles the low level oil light came up. It took 2 litres of oil to bring the level back up to Max level. There are no leaks or signs of oil loss. I have just read the handbook and it states oil usage can be up to 1 litre per 1000km particularly in a new engine. Being old school this sounds excessive. Anyone with similar experience on oil usage on the sprinter before I go and attack the Dealer??

Sometimes it is normal for a new engine to use oil for a few thousand miles or so until everything has bedded in, and then they stop using it. I say sometimes, because I have had brand new engines that never used a drop of oil. Unless you see lots of smoke from the exhaust or oil stains underneath, I wouldn't worry to much.

Go dealer and get the fault registered in the event that you have future problems.

Then you have a case to go back on. then you cannot loose.
