Hi all, im looking to buy a c class (around 2008-2010) and i just want clarification on the c220 cdi engine

There seems to be s few variations on the spec, can anyone confirm I have got it right as per below:

c220cdi:
170bhp. 0-62 in 8.5 secs.
mpg - 31 (u), 55.4 (eu), 42.8 (ave)

c220cdi blueefficiency:
170bhp. 0-62 in 8.4 secs.
mpg - 43.5 (u), 65.7 (eu), 55.4 (ave)

c220cdi blueefficiency:
170bhp. 0-62 in 7.6 secs.
mpg - 35.8 (u), 62.8 (eu), 48.7 (ave)

If I am right, how do I check which version of the blueefficiency engine I am buying..??

Thank you in advance

Blue Efficiency is 2143 cc, pre-Blue is 2151 cc.

The first of the BE engines came with a 5 speed automatic, later ones the 7G.

Thanks - so am I right in that there are 2 sets of stats for the 2 different BE cars

Its worth knowing as there is nearly a 1 sec difference in 0-62 figures..

I find the figures for the BE engines strange, as the 7G should be the faster and more economic, but your figures make the 7G less economic? Sure you didn't quote the C250CDI?

They are lifted from autotrader, ive checked quite a few and seem to be consistent. The quicker of the 2 BE engines (which I assume is the 7G) has exactly the same mpg figures as the c250cdi, but is 0.6 secs slower in 0-62

Take a look at the Wikipedia details. (Scroll down to W204 details).

Edit: AutoTrader ads pick up basic pre-listed stored details for the various makes/models so that all the trader has to do is enter the make & model. This leads to incorrect figures in a lot of cases, especially with the spec of the cars. i.e. it saves traders entering those details manually for each ad they post, but is obviously open to human error. (I think there is a disclaimer on the details).

Am I correct in saying it was the early BE engines that had the injector problems, and that pre-BE cars have no DPF but BE cars do?

I know there's a road fund difference - I got confused while buying my S204 C220, thought the RF would be about £160 whereas it's actually £220, the lower figure is for BE cars.

Pre-BE engines have a DPF too. CO2 levels much lower on the BE engines, which explains the road fund difference.

I was under the impression that my July 2008 C220 does not have a DPF - how do I find out for sure??
