Convenience Features Disabling W211

Weird thing has started happening in my E-Class, initially car is fine, but then when stationary, or at slow speed, battery protection keeps kicking in, stopping AC etc...then it comes back, and off again.

I thought it was the supplementary battery, and local Norauto (Spanish Kwik fit) changed the battery, and gave me the car back - but problem has persisted, and they don´t seem to know their **** from their elbow.

Any ideas? Could it be the alternator?

Battery, Battery control unit, switch over relay or alternator issues. Are all the usual causes.

I'd put a decent battery on from MB first and go from there.
