As i'm new to cabriolets(had a 320clk for a couple of weeks)can anyone advise me on do's/dont's when washing the hood & also how often do you re-proof & what product works best?

Don't open the roof when it's wet, and avoid tree sap! I wash the roof as normal, hosing off gently. I used MB's own sealer (aerosol) at under £10 this a year, but found Renovo's Ultraproofer very good. If my car wasn't garaged, I would probably do it twice a year. Both suppliers, along with others, provide roof detergents that can be used with gentle scrubbing if the roof is bad.

# Please Keep your new soft top in the CLOSED position for a minimum of two days to allow the material to stretch to the correct tension.
# NEVER use a jet wash/car wash to clean the soft top.
# NEVER store the soft top in the open position for long periods of time or when the soft top is wet.
# Avoid long periods of inactivity of the mechanism as this can cause the frame to seize.
# VINYL soft top - Clean with a soft damp cloth using diluted mild detergent such as washing up liquid.
# MOHAIR soft top - Clean with a soft clothes brush to remove the dust and use a damp cloth diluted mild detergent such as washing up liquid to remove stains.
