My crankshaft pulley pretty much broke down last week causing power steering pump etc to stop turning also. I got a second hand replacement from another engine. The both pulleys are different to look at however the belt etc lines up fine. The pulley I got is hollow in the middle and bolts onto the engine closer to the block as opposed to my original pulley which uses longer bolts and is not hollow but they both come off the same 2.2 diesel. I got the car back and everything runs fine, however when turning the steering while stationary, there is a loud kinda straining and slapping sound coming from the belt, no issues or noise when driving. Drives perfect. Could there be a difference in the 2? The picture attached is my original pulley. 2011 E Class W212 2.2 Diesel Coupe.
