DAB Radio E Class

a) Type of car - E class saloon
b) Model year - 2014
c) Do you have the TomTom live traffic function instead of TMC - Yes

I have recently bought this vehicle from a Merc Dealer - The Dab drops out with a crunch noise predominantly within the first 5 minutes of use where this will happen 3-5 times - hot or cold then settles down for say an hour will do it again - Have a 2014 Galaxy and a 2015 Insignia neither have this issue when used on the same routes.

Having had the vehicle back to the dealer today they say its a common issue to do with signal strength ?? but my other vehicles are fine ? They said there were no trouble codes stored but I'm sure when I looked in Engineer menu on command last week it has issues - Then they said it's to do with the software for world dab ??? They have raised a case with Merc but advised not to expect a fix anytime soon ???

Any thoughts / advice please ..
 
Ask them to do a firmware *and* a map update on the COMAND to the latest versions.

Ask them whether they have changed the antenna amplifier to the new part A212 900 34 06 (instead of original A212 820 26 89)

MB had previously tried to fix the DAB reception on my 2014 E Class Coupe with new parts, but were unsuccessful.

When I left it in this week for its second service I asked them to check if there was a software update for the DAB. There was, they applied it, and lo and behold the reception is much, much better. Still the occasional dropout, but nowhere near as frequent as before.
