Hi

My S205 (2014 with Audio 20 and Garmin SD Nav) is the first car I've owned that has a DAB radio so I am not sure if there is a problem with it or not? (I've only had it since June)

When you first start up, the radio comes on straightaway (with the display indicating the station in use etc), and the sound is fine. However, after about 20 seconds, it's as if you've rewound about 10 seconds and from then on, it's fine.

At first, I thought that it's probably searched for the best signal for that station and found a stronger one and being digital, there's a difference in the broadcast timing? I know you sometimes get that when you flip between say Sky (BBC1) and Terrestial (DVB) on the TV.

It does seem to do the same wherever I am when switching on the radio, so would welcome any feedback from other 205 owners, as to if theirs do the same or if I need to raise this with MB when it goes in for its B1 service in November.

Many thanks
Phil

This sounds like you are starting off on the FM frequency as the DAB tuner hasnt booted up yet (its a separate device on the fibre bus) . Once the tuner is alive, it switches to DAB and because of the buffering you are going back a few seconds.

The test for this is to leave the car on the FM band when you switch off. Next time you get in the car it should stay on FM. Leaving it on DAB will mean a delay until DAB is available whilst the tuner boots up.

My A class has DAB with NTG2.5 and when I first startup it says 'Device unavailable'. Once the tuner is alive the message goes and I get DAB.
