I just had Halfords come along to fit a Nextbase 522GW Front & Rear Dash Cam to my new GLA 200.

Unfortunately, they were unable to wire it in as the Nextbase wiring kit has a fuse that is too big to fit into the passenger well fuse box. He said that this was the same issue he found on an A Class last week. To his credit he said that Halfords shouldn't have sold me the thing knowing the car. The only solution he knew of was to cut a notch in the fuse box cover to fit the Nextbase kit but as this would make the fuse box non-watertight he didn't recommend it.

Does anyone know of a solution to this or could recommend an alternative dash cam?

Thanks

Not sure how it doubles the fuse exactly on the kit you have perhaps it protrudes too far from the existing fuses, so maybe just a right angle (90 degree) fuse doubler attachment would solve it (assuming it isn’t that style of doubler already).

The Nextbase kit is a 90degree fuse 😟

Hmm not sure what to suggest unless there might be some more room elsewhere in the box to store the doubler safely, in which case perhaps some sort of extension harness can be run from the fuse socket in which the doubler could then plug into.

Bit strange, I have the new Nextbase dash cam fitted to my car which is a CLA was fitted by a local indy and they used the hardwire kit supplied from Nextbase, bought it all direct from them and it uses the passenger fuse box with no issues.
To be honest not even sure that H....... would know how to change a fuse so not at all surprised, sounds like the guy is telling you that Nextbase dash cams don't fit Mercedes, bet Nextbase would be interested in that statement.

Meant to as was the guy from H....... or Nextbase or approved fitter, have a read below.

I had the same with my c class when a spares shop tried to fit it, but a car audio shop can do it, i just plugged it in the lighter couldn't be bothered anymore, but you may have kicked me off again.

My indy did it 2 hours including setting it all up for me

A query to Nextbase is my next step!

Did Halfords attempt to Install the Large Fuse Cable? When I hardwired one to me C Class the Kit came with two Fuse Cables:

Not sure if your car is same set up but I have an EQA 250 and my friend fitted my Nextbase dashcam using their hardwire kit to the fuse box under the passenger side carpet with a little fiddling

Hope you have better luck with Nextbase than I did. Three changed under warranty, got fed up after the fourth one failed and swapped to Blackvue, had no problems in over twelve months with the Blackvue.

Did you wire it into the OBD port?

Mine went into the passenger footwell fuse box, then the lid screwed back into place, the guy who fitted it had no issues, he'd have told me if he had.
