<div class="bbWrapper">The defective bulb, error came on during the summer when I used the fog lights. It was a wet summer.<br />
The bulbs were OK. This persisted through the Autumn, then the error message stopped for a few weeks. Now regardless of which lights are used, including side lights the message appears??? W208 2002 CLK convertible 230. All bulbs are shining OK.</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">If they should be regular incandescent bulbs, but have been swapped for LEDs at some stage, that could be the issue? <br />
Failing that maybe bits of corrosion in lamp holders setting error msg due higher resistance?</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">I had a similar issue on another car, replacing the bulbs resolved it but only for the short term.<br />

The theory at the time was that the voltage regulator was faulty and caused the bulbs to change their resistance over time, which is what was causing the error messages (even though the bulbs seemed operational).<br />

I eventually traded it in before doing anything about it, so I was never able to prove it.<br />
