delusional?

looks good to me
very good specification
decent history
mileage ok ish
and if the bodywork is spot on it could go for close to that figure
if he has a lot of cars and doesnt get the price he might keep it
only downside hes written war and peace...

oh and its not got a cloth interior:doh:;)

That is not cheap but it does have some very nice options and it has had alot spent on it. If I really wanted one it would be worth a look and an offer.

Being fussy (but should be for 8.5k) id want heated seats and more service stamps for that money. plus i dont like blue interiors on 124's.

One more vote for the cloth interior fan club - far classier on a 124 estate (although mine has leather)

It' dsbeen posted a few times already I think, however theres no denying it's a lovely looking car, if very over priced. Put the phone number from the ad into google and see what comes up.

Nice, but why would you pay over the odds for that compared to (say) a later 320?

he talks of it handling "like it is on rails."..hope he doesnt mean upside down

on a serious note its a truly impressive write up someone will be getting a very nice car

An s124 for £8.5k is being very optimistic for a "private"? seller.
Also a c200 for £7k.
I do not think that anyone would have a collection of 50 cars unless they were seriously loaded and who would "collect" a c200 and 49 other cars?
The feedback history also makes interesting reading as the account has not really been used for some time meaning that there is nothing substantial and recent to back up the "rating". Caveat Emptor.

If the prices were halved for a private sale they would be achieveable.

The 300-24 would be my choice over the 320 but as ^ the car is way overpriced
For a private sale I think even 5k is to much let alone 8.5

thats a good point as a private sale it should be a lower price :thumb:
im warming to the leather interior as its dark blue :D

Out of interest, why would that be? I've never driven either, but I thought the engines were virtually identical apart from the 320 giving more torque (as a result of the extra capacity) :dk:

Don`t,I`d chose cloth any day instead of leather but having young children leaves me no choice

300-24 reckoned to be more of a "rev machine" that the more laid back 320 - more aggressive cam profile perhaps? No issues with wiring looms/ cooked HT components either. Funnily enough I would mark it down for the slightly less reliable 5 speed over the bullet proof 4 speed autobox

The only downside to the 300-24 is the EZL(?) control units that fail due to heat build up and age.....cost an absolute fortune and getting harder to find second hand and if a car is still on its original then its only going to be a matter of time before it goes, especially if you use the car on a regular basis.

Having had a 300-24 and a 320, the 300-24 is the more charismatic engine, with a great yowl coming off it once you hit 4000rpm,......needs a lot of reving to get the best out of it and its a pretty thirsty lump. The 320 is more refined and has more torque and gives better fuel consumption, but does have the wiring harness issues.

For me it would be a 300-24 in a SL and a 320 in a W124 TE.
