Having purchased a DI Vessel of eBay along with 25 litre bag of resin I thought today I would give Black Beauty a wash!:D

I have a 11 litre version which seems perfectly adequate for my needs and after buying a couple of 15 metre hose pipes with fittings for £6.99 each from the Range I was ready to go!!

First job, fill the vessel with resin; what a pain in the proverbial :wallbash:
I'd checked the internet out and realised that a traffic cone was the way to go but there was a general lack of road works near me so I had to revert to a funnel

I raided the kitchen then a hack saw was used to cut it down so the opening was large enough. I opened the bag of resin slightly then realised that it was an outer bag so opened it fully and then opened the inner bag slightly.

It was then like wrestling kittens with the bag ebbing and flowing in my arms and the contents not always coming out and then I knocked the funnel off and spilt some on the garage floor!!:fail which just added to the bits that did miss the funnel!!!

Eventually I got the required amount in and then went to re-seal the inner bag into the outer only to find more content had been lost from the secondary hole I had accidently made with my grip at the bottom of the sack!!!:wallbash::wallbash:

Bugger!!

I deposited the inner bag in the outer and wrapped it as best I could leaving it to a rainy day to make a better job of sealing it.

I filled a bucket with the two hoses attached at each end; one to the tap the other to the supplied nozzle. Yep, there is a reason that these are only £6.99 as the connectors leak like a sieve but I did my best in sealing them!! :fail

Filled my bucket and with the £5.99 meter I tested - 16 PPM. I went indoors and from the tap filled a jug and tested this - 406 PPM!!

Well I washed the car and what a difference after I had micro towelled it dry; absolutely no rings and a nice deep shine!!

So my view is, a real pain to set up but worth it for the results :bannana::bannana:

Mine tested 0ppm :dk:.

Is it MB115 resin?

Yep the good stuff, could be I need to put more in or our water is so crap to start with, either way the results speak for themselves:D

The difficult bit to get your brain around is that you can wash it and leave it to dry and hey presto, no water marks.

It's hard not to dry isn't it?

Did you film any of this? ;) :)

No sorry, it would have been a comedy of errors :-)

Could have been a big hit on the next Fail Army compilation ;)

Glad it worked for you, it's a bit like magic isn't it? I do mine and always go and check it again the next day just to make sure what I saw was real ;)

Yep. Definitely witchcraft. Our water reads about 312-322 on the inlet and 0 at the outlet. Washed in bright sunshine, rinsed and left the wife's cavansite blue SLK to dry…………no water spots. None. Why the F did I not buy one of these years ago? (rhetorical question)

That's exactly the question I keep asking.

My neighbour asked what it was all about and thought it was BS... so we washed his dark blue car with it.... he is now a convert!

This is my second black car and the first, a w207 E Coupe was always hassle trying to clean it but the limited detailing knowledge I have now is making this car a better experience!:D

lol
Sounds like you had a right time of it! :D
Glad it came good in the end Steve :thumb:

Sounds like they give good results.

Can't help but think it's a lot of buggering about though :dk:

Just the initial set up is and it should be good for a few washes but on dark coloured cars it is the best thing since sliced bread (IMHO!):bannana::bannana:

Buy one complete ……….and now we know the problems, can be prepared when a refill is due.;)

After reading about these DI vessels and chatting with John (Developer) when we were up at MSL a few weeks back I bought one together with HM test meter. It makes an amazing difference:thumb:

I washed my car last week and used the DI vessel for the first time for the final rinse. The water reading was over 300ppm but read big fat zero once running through the vessel. My vessel came pre-filled with the Tulsion 115. I washed the car as normal and then rinsed and left it. I then set about cleaning the wheels which took ages. I didn't leave it to fully dry naturally but dried it with a large microfibre drying towel which left absolutely no marks at all:D Normally I would use a detail spray as a drying aid, but even so I always got some smear marks but this time it was crystal on every surface and I didn't use detail spray at all!! Amazing and prob best thing I've bought in a long time.

Word of warning though, on the first use mine must have sprayed a load of the resin out and blocked the hose a bit, not sure why it did that but runs fine now, maybe when the guy filled it he got some in the filter part:dk: I tried it a week ago just to see what readings I was getting and then left it. I then came to use for real and connected the hose to my pressure washer without the DI vessel to do the first jet wash of all the crud and the jet washer packed up! I disconnected everything and there was resin beads pouring out everywhere. I panicked as I thought I had just effectively grit blasted the car but all was fine and all the resin was confined to the jet washer!! It meant I had to fully strip the jet washer apart though, but all good now.

So my advice is to run water through the DI vessel for a bit first and then thoroughly flush everything through before you actually use it.

I got mine off ebay from this guy who is fairly local to me so I went and picked it up. I decided on 8L size as couldn't see any real advantage in the larger size other than having to change resin more frequently. I also looked at the Raceglaze one which Ed at Divine Detail uses and it's identical but slightly smaller than mine so I thought the 8L size would be fine.

This thread just cost me a hundred quid.

Moi aussi! Turned out to be a very worthwhile investment.
The clincher was Giantvanman's recommendation in the form of his rhetorical question at post #8. Anyone with an Avatar like that has got to know exactly what he's taking about and be utterley reliable!

All good wishes, lim
