Now have a S212 350 PETROL! . Did have 1992 W124 300E Ford Escort 1300E(now sold!)
Can anyone suggest the best way to clean my windscreen.I want to get rid of all the old deposits/fall out as it really shows up at night.I have used autoglym glass cleaner but I think it needs something more?

Iim surprised the Autoglym product hasn't worked too well. Used it myself and been very pleased. Some say polishing the screen with newspaper works well, if not why not try some undiluted screen wash concentrate carefully applied but avoiding contact with paint / rubber surfaces. Think I've heard of vinegar being used as well, maybe in conjunction with newspaper. Good luck.

Believe it or not, you can use wire wool to really clean a windscreen - but you have to be careful to get "4 Zero" (0000) grade, the very finest grade. I also use it for applying polish to solid oak and mahogany tables! Coupled with your Autoglym, I'd expect it to get all the muck off.

I have have used vinegar and newspaper it worked well, try finishing off with "rain x" glass polish for a nice shine.I have started using "rain x" rain repelant its great watching the water going up the windscreen.

Dilute some white vinegar & apply with a clean cloth then clean again with glass cleaner;)

Glass Polish is great and once you all done finish with Rainx ..I luv that stuff

Glass cleaner or glass polish? You need the latter.
It was Glass polish I used.I thought it would remove everything but not this time.

Halfords do an intensive screen cleaner, comes in a cream form that you have to 'polish' in. Works well

i've used a combo of white vinegar and hot water.. when that didn't work i just got a clay bar.. turned out great.. i hear you can use some steel wool too though

I has this problem and couldn't get the screen clean whatever I tried. A new wiper blade sorted the problem.

i had the same problem until i replaced the wipers, when i took the old ones off i cleaned the screen with nail varnish remover then auto glym glass polish perfect now ....must be done before the new ones go on

Windscreen clean with jif or cif as its known now or neat detergent on pan scourer then clean blade with cloth/sponge and neat detergent.

Turtlewax Clear Vue Glass Polish is excellent. My RS and SE had old windscreens with micro pitting everywhere..the polish made a big difference.

Thanks for the reply. Can you give any more info on the clay bar?

Halfords sell a mequairs one, but its not the strongest.
Try Ebay for a Sonus Clay Bar they do 3 different types.Easiest option for you

Thanks.I will give it a go with the clay once I have built up the energy as I can see it developing into a full valet if I am not careful.
