Or that is what it looked like.

Had the MB up on a ramp in my local village garage after chatting to the owners after sorting out something on my daughter’s new car and discussing an annoying tinkle / rattle (lose heatshield suspected) – they offered half an hour on the ramp on Saturday

Anyhows, both me and they were immediately distracted by the exhaust……

Not as bad as it looks, its ‘merely’ a moisture leak encasing the large mid body silencer / resonator, but it does look like Aliens have been at it with acid.

So distracted, we discussed options and of course something that had been on my mind was easy to justify....

A mate of the garage had a few to choose from in his parts workshop, and the Mandrel bent X pipe was a straight fit (and apparently without forced induction, the alternative X pipe with a small chamber still in it, doesn’t work as well….?)

As it was on the ramps we agreed a price to stay on and do the job.

Still got the sports back boxes on so it’s a subtle, but noticeable improvement in aural presence when a little right foot is applied. Given the V6 revs to 7,000 when up the top end and it opens up, it does announce itself more aggressively.

So a job that actually needed doing got done and even Mrs Fabes said that when I showed her that photos
