I was told a chap from Wales wants it but
could be sales talk ;) so going to have a drive
on Saturday if its still available .
I was thinking of accessing the service menu
to check all Is good would this be a good idea
Cheers Andy .

There is another member from Wales showing interest in getting an E55, so maybe not sales talk after all;)

If you can access the service records then it can only give you an indication of exactly what has and hasn't been done during it's service life at the dealer.

With 80k miles the cars should have had at least one plug change by now. I think the brake fluid is recommended to be changed every 3yrs IIRC.

Thanks for that I will do some more digging
If its not sold .

That looks good for the price. i am sure there is some movement in price too.

Andrew, looks good
I paid less than 10k for my 46k example at the start of the year

I think if it has a full service history (or says it does) you can go to mymercedesservice.co.uk, type in the reg number and mileage and it will tell you the next service and give you a steer on the cost of the service too....

Good luck!

Problem is, with a car costing this small amount - you'd struggle to find one with a comprehensive history. It's a risk - buy cheap and you get what you pay for. If in doubt about various aspects of the car but you really want it - then buy it after agreeing a reduced fee if poss and then pay extra for a 'mate' to check those areas you have doubt about and change the belts, plugs, fluids if necessary. It's not the end of the world.

Ironically I have been having a nosey at that this evening

What's the difference between a full service mb
history and a comprehensive mb service history
can you specify what you want doing ?
I don't have a mate who is mercedes qualified ;)

Not a lot.

Although Zoros stated a comprehensive history which means a car that has been looked after and serviced when required - regardless of who did it.

You can have a basic MB dealer service (7 year 'value plus') for these AMG vehicles for £139 including oil and filter change and full inspection, plus software updates/recalls and a service wash etc.

I must admit, it's tempting. Basically the way I see it - I value the Oil/filter change at around £70 (£10 for the oil filter and £60 for the oil) - does the service stamp add ~ £70 of value to resale on a ~ £10k car?

It's nothing new, people have been having main dealer 'services' for years and not getting stuff like plugs/brakes etc done - just for the vanity of a stamp :o

I get that but when a garage selling a car says
full mb history and then when you go through it
things haven't been done like you would have expected like the plugs and brake fluid .
It doesn't seem that comprehensive to me .
I've learned a lot on here so I picked up on this ;)

In fairness, so long as the book has been stamped by MB at the relevant intervals I think for a ~ 10 year old car that is about par for the course and you can't expect the dealer to look at every stamp/service in great detail?

You can get the plugs replaced for a couple of hundred at an indi, brake fluid maybe £50 or so? Not sure what the big deal is really - if that's all that's wrong with it you're laughing. Even if they had been done in the past they'd need doing again at some point :o

After putting a few reg plates in the mb service calculator all but one said B service at £720
with the additional service work ie belts and brake fluid ect , the back 55 estate just wanted
an A service at £230 , does this seem right .

Probably about right - but you can specify a 7+ 'value service' for £149 minus a £10 online discount - £139 all inclusive.

The 'service' costs vary hugely depending on what they think is required - I suspect a plug change at MB would be around £500 alone?

I always do my own servicing where possible
so never paid these prices !
Looks like the car has sold btw .

No disrespect - but how can you be so fussy about where the previous owner has had their car serviced, then say you'd never pay those prices and DIY? :o

Some MB dealers will not stamp the service book unless all the additional items that come-up on ESS as due are replaced.
