W211 E320cdi elegance saloon. Gone at last
Or should I say protection against dogs, one loony Springer Spaniel in particular.
She loves to travel and happily goes from one rear window to the other looking and smelling at the world passing by. Now this was no problem with the Surf but diving around the back seat of my lovely "new" Merc is a definite noooo!! she would ruin the lovely leather seats and I shudder to think about the door cards. There are several remedies for this I can think of but they all involve either leaving her behind or tying her up both an absolute no no.
Can anyone suggest a solution? we have a cover for the rear seat so really its the door cards that need protection.
Thanks in advance

Dog Cage | eBay

And an estate MB!

ETA - I sympathise have seen the state of my parents cars over the years as they refuse to buy an estate, despite the dog. Mind you I have to lift him into the back of ours - no east task with a bulky retriever.

We were originally looking at estates but saw this saloon with the folding rear seats, pano roof etc and fell in love. the dog cage is a no,no she's a rescue dog and doesn't like cages.

You can get a harness with a seat belt buckle to fit in the centre seat belt and adjust it enough so the dog can't reach either rear door and it's safer for all should you have a bump

Tried that, got fed up of untangling her or if we made it short enough that she didn't tangle she whined like heck.

Having watched a collie flying through a windscreen during a crash. I can't recommend enough the use of properly fixed cage or seatbelt harness. Julius k9 do seatbelt attachments for their harness.
I empathize with the whining/tangling and some dogs do need a little patience to get used to cages, but safest is best.
Its always a good excuse to buy a ''classic'' hence my rescue gsd has a S124 E320 affectionately known as ''Ted's taxi'' :-)

We use an "Allside Dog Car Seat Cover", which can be zipped up as either a single seat or full-width protector with sides (also has a velcroed slit for a seat belt adaptor to attach to a harness)-

That looks just like what we need. Many thanks :thumb::thumb::thumb:

Great. I think it's German, certainly has a quality feel to it.

Just one thing to watch for- I noticed slight wear of the backrest of the rear seat (beige nappa), for a short stretch around where the hammock zip ran- might have just been coincidence, but I now keep an old towel between the zip and seat, just in case.

Our dog (Choccy Nuta Lab) loves both our cars
Surf and W210 Saloon
Never a problem with the cloth trim in the Surf
I push an oversized dog blanket into the seats of the Merc.
As long as we remember to open the windows below 40mph were fine.
<40mph + doggy head out window

The only problem we had with the Surf seats and Suzie was soon resolved by Henry. You'd need to go a long way to find a better vacuum for cleaning car interiors. We're not bothered about the dog hairs its the damage she could do with her claws to the leather seats and the trim on the doors.
